Introduction

Dating from the C17th the Old House has been carefully restored and the attached barn converted to provide additional accommodation. The exterior character has been carefully retained by repointing the large chimneys and stonework in lime mortar, and re slating the roofs with local slate.

Internally, the existing oak roof structure has been cleaned and exposed, with new oak floors, doors, panelled screens and kitchen fitments, which compliment the house and enhance the spaces to create a warm atmosphere throughout.

The scheme maintains a discreet presence on the street within the historical context of old Ambleside.
